Magaliesberg Citrus Company Ltd, one of the leading citrus processing plants in South Africa, was initially established as a pack house for fresh fruit in 1959 and was well known as Magaliesberg Citrus Co-operative Ltd. Due to low fresh fruit prices, Magalies ventured into the processing side of citrus fruits, and started to manufacture fruit juice concentrates in 1965. Since that historical year, Magalies has grown from strength, to strength manufacturing the highest quality fruit juice concentrates in South Africa.

Magalies was registered as a public company in 2005 and has 90 shareholders who deliver about 50 000 tons of citrus fruit, annually for processing. The 10 different citrus varieties grown by the shareholders in the Brits area, are processed into approximately 3 000 000 litres of concentrate, and a vast range of products are produced, with citrus as the base of most of the recipes used.

It is the vision of the company to be the preferred trademark and supplier of quality fruit juice and related products in South Africa. Magalies aspires to achieve this goal through utilising high quality raw materials, superior technology and innovative marketing, thus creating customer prosperity by delivering products and service that exceeds their expectations.

Magalies adheres to the highest quality standards, and has frequent audits to maintain the companies’ ISO 9001:2000 and HACCP certification.

Magalies has created depot outlets throughout South Africa and neighbouring countries, to ensure that their products are available to their clients on a national basis.

Magalies has also been involved with a Black Economic Development project in the Winterveldt over the past couple of years. Magalies provides technical support on citrus farming and related issues, through a consultant, to the developing farmers in this area, and provides a platform for them to evolve in citrus farming, whilst as shareholders they are delivering their citrus crop to the company.
